A DIFFERENT TOUCH OF HARI RAYA

The words ‘Hari Raya’ means ‘day of celebration’. The date is determined by sighting of the new moon, on the month of Syawal, in Muslim calendar. The celebration is right after the one-month fasting period (as known as Ramadan) when Muslims fast from dawn till sunset, it is to remind them of the plight of the poor and to cleanse themselves by exercising abstinence and self-control. Hari Raya celebration will lasts for a month but most of the celebration is concentrated in the first three days.

During this joyous occasion of Hari Raya Puasa, while visiting Muslim families, you can expect to taste a wide variety of delicious traditional dishes, such as ketupat, lontong, nasi padang, beef rendang, etc. Apart from these, you may also find some modern and creative recipes in some families.​

Air Bandung Mix

A very common drink in Malaysia, it’s just the mixture of rose syrup, water, ice and Evaporated Filled Milk (Susu Isian Sejat). However, simply adding some Grass Jelly (Cincau) or Fruit Cocktail In Syrup, can become a popular family party drink. It’s totally delicious and refreshing.

You can also just use Sweet Cream Corn, Evaporated Creamer (Krimer Sejat), water and ice to make an Iced Sweet Corn Drink or even using blender to make Sweet Corn Smoothie. Just thinking of it already feel very yummy~

Mix Fruit Macaroni Cocktail (Dessert Version)

It will be too boring if you eat canned fruit cocktail straight from the can. Try this Muslim family special recipe, you will then have a whole new feeling of such typical canned fruit.

Boil some macaroni, drain the water and let it cool. After that, mix a can of Fruit Cocktail In Syurp and Evaporated Creamer (Krimer Sejat). Tada! The Mixed Fruit Macaroni Cocktail is done and ready to serve!
